Getting to Know God and His Word
Starting your journey to know God and His Word can be a fulfilling and transformative experience. Here are some steps to guide you:

1. Read the Bible
Choose a Translation: Select a translation that is easy to understand, such as the New International Version (NIV) or the New Living Translation (NLT).
Start with Key Books: Begin with the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) to learn about the life of Jesus. The Book of Psalms and Proverbs are also great for wisdom and encouragement.
Follow a Reading Plan: Consider using a Bible reading plan to guide your daily readings.
2. Pray
Establish a Prayer Routine: Set aside time each day to pray, asking for understanding and guidance.
Be Honest: Share your thoughts, questions, and feelings with God in your prayers. Remember this is a conversation with God. He already knows even the things you are trying to hide and he loves you anyway. It doesn't have to be perfect, just start. And if you can't find the words, just thank Him for what he has done and invite him to spend time with you. Have an open heart allowing for anything he has for you to be downloaded into your spirit during this time.
3. Join a Community
Find a Local Church: Attend services to worship and learn with others. If not local, there are plenty of online services.
Join a Bible Study Group: Engage in discussions with others who are also seeking to understand God's Word. Feel free to join our study group.
4. Use Study Resources
Commentaries: Utilize Bible commentaries to gain deeper insights into the text. This is a game changer and I highly recommend this.
Devotionals: Read daily devotionals that provide reflections on Scripture.
Online Resources: Explore websites, podcasts, and videos that focus on biblical teachings. (Journey Unscripted podcast coming soon)
5. Reflect and Apply
Journaling: Keep a journal to write down your thoughts, prayers, and insights from your readings.
Live Out Your Faith: Look for ways to apply what you learn in your daily life.
6. Be Patient and Persistent
Stay Committed: Developing a relationship with God takes time and effort.
Seek Guidance: Don’t hesitate to ask for help from more experienced believers.
Dont Limit God: Give God permission to speak to you throughout the day. Limiting him limits your blessings.
Remember that this journey is personal and unique to you. Take your time, and enjoy the process of getting to know God and His Word.
