As I mentioned earlier, I'm reading through the entire Bible once more. I've begun with John and would love for you to join me. I apologize for the delay in posting, so let's get you up to speed. I usually read one chapter each day.
So lets summarize John chapters 1-13.
In John chapters 1-13, the narrative begins with the profound declaration of Jesus as the Word, emphasizing His divine nature and role in creation. John the Baptist testifies about Jesus, identifying Him as the Lamb of God. As Jesus starts His ministry, He performs signs such as turning water into wine, cleansing the temple, and healing the sick, illustrating His authority and compassion. Key conversations include His discourse with Nicodemus about being born again and His encounter with the Samaritan woman, revealing His message of salvation. Jesus feeds the 5,000, walks on water, and teaches about being the Bread of Life, highlighting His spiritual sustenance. He also confronts religious leaders, asserting His unity with the Father. The chapters culminate with Jesus washing His disciples' feet, demonstrating humility and love, and preparing them for His impending departure.
My thoughts:
Jesus's determination is unparalleled. He truly is remarkable! Despite performing numerous miracles, He often had to engage in discussions about His identity and His Father. I couldn't help but think, I wouldn't have been able to do that. I'm not one to engage in back-and-forth discussions. I say what I mean and mean what I say. If it were up to me, I would state it once and leave it at that. The rest would be their responsibility.
A few key lessons that I got from these chapters:
Mary's words in John 2, are words that should be our guiding principles when following Jesus, " Do whatever He says"
Stay authetic, God sees you and your heart. He knows when its appropriate to show you more.
The more you grow in Christ, the more he reveals Himself to you.
Spiritual immaturit can not handle all that God is.
Understand YOUR role. Just as John knew his role in John 3; He knew that he was to play the role of the groomsman's friend, with Jesus being the groom. Don't try to step into roles that aren't assigned to you. Fulfill your mission.
A person can diligently study the bible and still miss Jesus!
Never let your lack of resources, limit what God can do. Jesus took insufficiency, thanked God for it, and provided more than enough.
Jesus' delay is for a purpose. Don't rush Him; His timing is perfect and the wait is worth it.
I hope you'll choose to embark on this journey with me. If you do, once you're up to speed, please feel free to share your insights. I'd love to chat with you.
Our podcast will be released soon, featuring unscripted discussions. I hope you can find the time to listen.
